Jamestown Public Schools Cancel Classes For At Least One Month
Share:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window) Image by Justin Gould/WNYNewsNow.JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Public Schools have cancelled classes for at least one month amid the Coronavirus outbreak.School officials say currently classes are not expected to resume until Monday, April 20.While there are not yet any confirmed cases of coronavirus in Chautauqua County, they say it is important that the school works to slow the spread of the disease in order to prevent people from becoming ill.“Our administration has been preparing for this day,” officials said in a statement. “Our mantra has been “hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” As a result, Jamestown Public Schools is ready to provide continuation of instruction, childcare, school meals, and to also meet the needs of our medically frail students.” The school says they hope that to send students back to school earlier than April 20th, but are prepared to provide services and supports to students and their families for as long as is needed.The district will share updated information daily on the district website at www.jpsny.org.
