M.P. to hold meet on Gurukul system
The Madhya Pradesh government will organise a three-day international conference of Gurukuls from April 28 to 30 in Ujjain to facilitate the creation of a relevant framework for the promotion of the Gurukul system of education, widely seen as an ancient Indian method of learning.The conference — which is being organised in collaboration with the Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal — is also expected to brainstorm on the need for setting up of new Gurukuls. Representatives from Nepal, Myanmar, Indonesia, Mauritius, Trinidad, etc., are also expected to take part in the conference. Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar is expected to be present, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal’s organising secretary Mukul Kanitkar said here on Sunday.Research scholars, social activists, industrialists and Vice-Chancellors from 70 to 80 universities are also expected to be present, a release from the Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, which is associated with Vidya Bharti schools, said.The delegates would brainstorm onwhich aspects of the Gurukul system could be incorporated into the modern education system.
