Apartment List said in its monthly report that rents are up 3.9 percent in Vancouver over the last year. The rental listing website puts median rents at $1,380 for a one-bedroom apartment and $1,630 for a two-bedroom, well above the national average of $1,170 for a two-bedroom.Average year-over-year growth in Washington is 2.2 percent and national growth is 1.5 percent, so Vancouver is outpacing those averages. According to Apartment List, Vancouver is more expensive than Austin, Texas, but less expensive than Los Angeles.Vancouver rents are also rising faster than rents in other cities around the Portland metro area. Year-over-year rent growth in Tualatin, Ore., is a close second at 3.6 percent. Portland and Hillsboro, Ore., have seen rents dip slightly. Also in Oregon, Gresham, Beaverton and Lake Oswego have seen rents grow by 2 percent or less over the last year.
